RAILDATE - your free weekly guide to what's happening, what's new and what's on
CHANGES TO YAHOO - UPDATE
Some subscribers have told me that things are back to normal, while others report no change.
As far as I can see (at the time of writing!) if you read Raildate on the Yahoo website, the
links are all working again, but this might not be the case in the emails you receive. It all
seems to depend on which email client you use, where you use it and what settings you have on
Yahoo.
I did pursue the matter with Yahoo, and was told that the problem "should have been resolved
last week" which sounds like an admission that changes were made to Yahoo that have now been
reversed. Someone has told me that it is in Yahoo's interest for you to read posts on the
website as this drives you to their adverts. There may be some truth in this, but links in
emails that I receive from other Yahoo groups all seem to work OK for me.
One final thought if you use Windows Live Mail (formerly Outlook Express) - it will disable
links in emails that it thinks are "phishing", and the large number of links in Raildate might
trigger this. When you are viewing an email, therefore, try clicking on the little arrow under
the "Junk" icon (top-left). This pulls down a menu, where there is an "unblock" option. (It
will be greyed out if it has already decided there's nothing wrong with the email.)
